The sloppy Joe, or the Joe as some call it is a great dish to kick up a notch and get creative with. In essence you're taking a base (the meat) and changing the flavor profile or adding some great enhancers. This "Joe" is a BBQ, bacon and cheddar Joe! Here's my recipe.
1. 1 Lbs ground beef sauteed with diced garlic clove, small diced shallot, 1/4 cup brown sugar, salt and pepper. Once browned add in a little ketchup and mustard to get that level of "sloppy" you want. 2. Place the Joe mix on an onion roll, top with shredded cheddar and bacon slices. Cover in BBQ sauce and serve with pickles and tomatoes. It's fast, fun and a great mid-week classic. Here are some other ideas to kick the sloppy joe up a notch. -Taco Joe (taco seasoning, jalapenos) -Breakfast Joe (Top with an egg and bacon) -Buffalo Chicken Joe (use ground chicken, buffalo sauce and bleu cheese) -Pizza Joe (favorite bottled pizza sauce topped with mozzarella and pepperoni)
