Hey Guys, For many the new year means a new diet and focus on health and fitness. That said, I've been playing with Keto and Paleo for about two months. As part of this change in my diet I'm doing lots of research. The biggie for me as I've tweaked my eating habits is to focus on the four things below. I should note I'm just starting to find the right calorie and protein/carb/fat balance and seeing both weight loss and size changes. Part of this is I also have ramped up my gym time. Keto is about more fat in your diet to push your body into ketosis and using stored fat for energy. Paleo is more from the earth and does allow more carbs for energy. The key is more "good carbs" not white or "Hot" carbs. A good rule of thumb is if a cave man or women could not make it don't eat it! Cave people did not have white bread ;) Here are my four core tips going in. 1. No more than 20g to 50g of carbs a day (this includes alcohol and cold carbs like green veggies) 2. Cut out sugars and look at alternatives like Erythritol (sodas and candy are gone!) 3. Cut out all processed and fast foods. Stay with real foods, whole foods! 4. Education. The more you read, watch and learn the better. That said there are some great apps out there on both play store and Apple store. Keto diet, tasty keto are two favorites. There is also a myth keto/paleo food is boring; nothing could be further from the truth and as a chef I'm finding all kinds of new a creative ways to cook keto/paleo so check in often and on my facebook page for the latest recipes I'm doing. The video below is a great, short success story and covers the basics of Keto if you decide to make this a core focus of your diet. #keto #foodandbars #goodeats
